New Work Permit for Expatriates Authorized to Reside in the Kingdom of Bahrain
Through this service, expatriate employees whose resident permits were not issued through LMRA and wish to work, can apply to obtain a work permit.
Service Conditions
- For professions that require a specific specialization (medical, educational and engineering professions), approval must be submitted from the concerned entity.
- Expatriate’s ID card and residence permit will not be changed.
- The expatriate employee must have a minimum of 6 months validity in his/her resident permit.

Process Description
- Download Permit/ Service Application Form PDF (1.39 MB) and fill in the required information.
- Submit the application form along with the required documents at the Client's Services counters or you can submit the application via the eSupport function on the Expat Management System (EMS) by attaching the form and the required documents all in 1 file in PDF format (Does not exceed 3000 KB).
- If the application is submitted:
- By Walkin (Personally attending Client Services): once the work permit for expatriates authorized to reside in the kingdom of Bahrain application is submitted, the LMRA employee will collect the admin fees from the commercial registration owner or his/ her representative (Either by using the Point of Sale (POS) machine, or via his/ her E-Key on the Expat Management System (EMS)).
- Via eSupport function on the Expat Management System (EMS): once the application is applied, you will be informed via the e-ticket that the application has been submitted, and you must pay the admin fees via the Expat Management System (EMS) or by visiting one of the accredited banks.
- Upon completion of the admin fees payment, the application will be transferred for verification.
- You can check the application status (whether it has been approved or rejected) by:
- Calling LMRA's call centre on +973 17506055.
- If the permit issuance request is approved, the biometric data must be collected and then the fees must be paid via the Expat Management System (EMS) or by visiting one of the accredited banks.
- Upon completion of the work permit fees payment, and If you would like to receive the new work permit certificate, kindly open a new ticket via the eSupport function on the Expat Management System (EMS).
